Who We Are
The Shepherd Support Organisation – Uganda (SSO) is a non-profit, non-partisan, multi-issue Community Based Organisation (CBO) dedicated to promoting equal opportunities, with a strong focus on vulnerable women and children.
The organisation was founded in April 2025 and officially registered in August 2025 in Omoro district, operating in Koro and Koch Ongako Sub Counties.
The organisation is governed by a board of directors, who oversee daily operations and manage resources generously contributed by international volunteers, private donors, and commercial enterprises.
VISION
SSO’s vision is to establish a vibrant society where children and women have access to equal opportunities to improve their lives through community initiatives.
MISSION
SSO’s mission is to create opportunities for vulnerable people in communities by promoting education, health, sustainable livelihoods, environmental conservation, and gender awareness — with a particular focus on improving the status of women and children.

Objectives
SSO’s goal is to provide equal opportunities for women and children through:
1
Improved education of children, with emphasis on child retention in school, educational performance, and life skills training for young people
2
Improved accessibility of health services for vulnerable children’s households through the provision of psychosocial activities.
3
Improving the socio-economic status of women and youth by engaging them in agriculture and relevant economic activities.
4
Promoting gender awareness and equity through mainstreaming, prevention of gender-based violence, and advocacy.
5
Promoting environmental and nature conservation through smart agriculture and afforestation practices.
- Partnerships
SSO appreciates that there are institutions, ministries, government agencies, and individuals who are equally concerned about children’s education, the low living standards of the Acholi population, and health-related challenges. For this matter, it collaborates and works hand-in-hand with relevant government departments, such as the Ministry of Agriculture, and other stakeholders. - Integrity and Accountability
Integrity and accountability in SSO operations are ensured at all levels. SSO adopts an accounting system that is easily communicated to donors and funders so they remain informed about how funds are received and spent. All financial disbursements of the project are recorded in accordance with acceptable accounting standards. Petty cash, cash, and any other financial dealings are made available for audit inspection at any time as required. This creates a favourable environment for transparency in financial reporting.
III. Continuous Learning
SSO continues to learn from the project to inform ongoing implementation.
