Who We Are

The Shepherd Support Organisation – Uganda (SSO) is a non-profit, non-partisan, multi-issue Community Based Organisation (CBO) dedicated to promoting equal opportunities, with a strong focus on vulnerable women and children.

The organisation was founded in April 2025 and officially registered in August 2025 in Omoro district, operating in Koro and Koch Ongako Sub Counties. The organisation is governed by a board of directors, who oversee daily operations and manage resources generously contributed by international volunteers, private donors, and commercial enterprises.

Program Areas

Environmental Conservation

 SSO supports environmental sustainability by promoting climate-smart agricultural practices, afforestation, and the responsible management of natural resources. 

Education

SSO promotes quality education for vulnerable children by enhancing community support structures, integration of psychosocial care, referral and networking.

Socio-Economic Empowerment

SSO empowers families of vulnerable children through livelihood support for self reliance.

Gender Mainstreaming

 SSO promotes gender equality by incorporating gender-sensitive approaches across all programs. This includes empowering women and girls through education, leadership training etc.

Health

SSO provides community-based physiotherapy treatment for children with disability, health education talk, psycho-social services to persons with mental health challenges, and make strong referral pathways.
